📸 5 Photo Tips That Doubled My Bookings

I went from 40% occupancy to 85% after redoing my photos. Here's exactly what I changed:
1. Shoot During "Golden Hour"
The hour after sunrise or before sunset gives you warm, inviting light. My living room went from looking sterile to cozy just by timing it right.
2. Wide Angle Lens (But Not Too Wide)
I use my iPhone's 0.5x ultra-wide for room shots. It makes spaces look bigger WITHOUT that weird fisheye distortion. Stand in a corner and capture the whole room.
3. The "Hotel Staging" Method
Before each photo:
- Make the bed with crisp, tucked sheets
- Add 4-6 pillows in varying sizes
- Place a folded throw at the foot
- Add a tray with coffee cups on the nightstand
- Open curtains fully
4. Show the Experience, Not Just Rooms
Instead of just showing the patio, photograph:
- Morning coffee on the patio table
- Wine glasses at sunset
- A book on the lounge chair
People book *experiences*, not rooms.
5. Lead With Your Best Shot
Your first photo determines whether people click. Make it your absolute best shot that shows your unique selling point. For me, it's my mountain view from the deck.
Pro Tip
Hire a professional for $150-300. It pays for itself in your first extra booking. Look for real estate photographers on Thumbtack or ask other hosts locally.

The "show the experience" tip is 💯! I added a photo of coffee on my balcony with the sunrise and it's now my most-viewed image. People want to imagine themselves there!

Hired a professional photographer after reading this. Best $200 I ever spent - my bookings went up within a week. The difference in quality is night and day.
