This is critically important and often overlooked by new hosts. Let me break it down: Airbnb's AirCover for Hosts Airbnb provides free Host Protection Insurance that includes: \- $1M liability coverage per incident \- $3M damage protection for your property \- Pet damage protection \- Deep cleaning coverage HOWEVER, there are gaps: What AirCover Does NOT Cover \- Cash and securities \- Shared or common areas \- Wear and tear \- Your personal belongings in storage \- Intentional damage by you What About Your Regular Insurance? ⚠️ Most homeowner's and renter's policies EXCLUDE short-term rental activity! You should: 1\. Call your insurance company and ask specifically about short-term rentals 2\. Consider a landlord policy or short-term rental endorsement 3\. Look into specialized STR insurance (Proper, CBIZ, Safely) My Setup I use my regular homeowner's policy PLUS Proper Insurance as a secondary layer. It costs me about $100/month but gives me peace of mind. What insurance setup do you use?
