# Did Amazon really cut commission rates again?

Saw a post claiming rates got cut in a category I'm building content around. Anyone know if this is actually true or just an old recycled claim? Kind of nervous since I've put a lot of content into one category.

They cut furniture from 8% to 3% back in 2020 with basically zero warning, so yes it can and does happen. Always check your actual category rate in Associates Central rather than trusting an old post, including whatever you just read.

This is exactly why I stopped building 100% around one category. Spread across a couple of related ones so one rate cut doesn't wreck everything.
