First month I broke $500 - here's what changed

Hit $512 last month for the first time after 14 months of doing this. Niche site around a very specific outdoor gear category, about 40 articles now, roughly 12k monthly visitors, and an email list I started around month 5. Wanted to post real numbers since most of what I read starting out was either 'made $1000 in 30 days' nonsense or people quitting after 2 months.

40 articles is a lot. How long did it take you to actually get all those written?

About 14 months total, but the first 8 months earned almost nothing. It really did compound once I had enough pages ranking at the same time.
