My essentials: collapsible water bowls, pee pads, pet first aid kit, leashes in multiple sizes, calming spray, and a good crate. Being prepared makes everything smoother.

Calming spray is a game changer for nervous pets. Adaptil for dogs and Feliway for cats. Works wonders.

I also carry a pet seat belt harness. Safety first and some shippers specifically ask about restraints.
