Just learned about hidden tips and I'm confused. So DoorDash hides part of the tip on high-paying orders? How do you know if an order might have a hidden tip? Is there a magic number to look for? Also, what does base pay actually depend on?

Hidden tips kick in around $4 tip in most markets - so total shown is usually $6.25-6.50. If you see $6.50 for a short distance from a nice restaurant, there's often a hidden tip. Base pay varies by distance, desirability, and how long the order has been sitting.

The magic number varies by market but $6.25 or $6.50 is usually the threshold. Catering orders and shop & deliver orders show more upfront. Also, orders that have been declined multiple times will have higher base pay.
