I am selling handmade pottery and the shipping costs are insane. A $25 mug costs $12 to ship safely. Do I raise prices? Offer free shipping and bake it in? How do you handle shipping for fragile or heavy items?

For fragile items, I always bake shipping into the price and offer free shipping. Customers hate seeing high shipping costs. Yes, it makes the item look more expensive, but conversion rates are better with free shipping.

Pirate Ship has saved me so much on shipping! Also, do not forget to properly pack - the cost of a replacement plus refund is way more than investing in good packaging. Bubble wrap and double boxing for pottery!
