Is stock footage + AI voice actually enough or do I need real editing skill?

Been putting off starting a channel because I don't know Premiere or anything fancy. Everything I read says stock footage plus an AI voiceover can work but I keep picturing my videos looking obviously cheap next to channels that clearly have a real editor. Is basic CapCut-level editing actually enough to get something watchable, or am I kidding myself?

Basic editing is genuinely enough for most niches, viewers care way more about pacing and hook than production value. My first 15 videos were CapCut only and a couple did fine.

Agree with marisol, though I'd add that thumbnail and title matter more than the editing itself. I've seen rough-looking videos outperform polished ones because the hook was better.

Counterpoint, in more competitive niches like finance or tech the production bar is higher now than it was even a year ago. Depends heavily what you're picking as a niche.
