Started sending a quick photo update mid-shop when an item was out of stock instead of just picking a random replacement, along with a short message asking their preference. Tips went up noticeably once I started doing this consistently, people seem to really value the communication.

Can confirm this works, started doing the same thing after seeing similar advice and my average tip went up a couple dollars per order.

Adding to this, dropping off with a quick 'thanks, have a good one' instead of just leaving silently also seems to help, small thing but noticeable.
