Getting a few DMs asking how I actually got started, so figured I'd put the steps in one place instead of typing it out every time.

Adding onto this. The order that worked for me: (1) sign up and pay the application fee, (2) submit to the background check, took about 4 days for mine, (3) fill out every single profile field, not just the required ones, including photos with animals you've actually cared for, (4) pick 1-2 services to start instead of listing everything, easier to rank for a specific search, (5) set your radius wider than you think for the first month so you show up in more searches.

The certifications are worth doing too, even the free ones, like dog first aid. They show up as a badge on your profile and I noticed a real bump in profile views after finishing mine.
