Realistic earnings expectations - let's be honest

See a lot of hype about TaskRabbit income. Here's my reality after 6 months full-time in a major metro: $2,800-3,500/month average after platform fees. Good months hit $4k+, slow months (January, late summer) drop to $2k. Factor in gas, tools, taxes (set aside 30%!), and actual hourly ends up around $22-28. Still better than many alternatives but not the goldmine some claim.

Thanks for the reality check. The 30% tax set-aside is something I wasn't doing and just got burned on estimated taxes. This should be shouted from the rooftops!

Honest numbers here. I'd add that it varies hugely by city too. In NYC or SF you can easily hit $4-5k but cost of living eats it. In smaller metros the ceiling is lower.
