Some hosts talk about having an LLC for liability protection. Is this really necessary when you're just renting out one or two personal vehicles? At what point does it make sense to form a business entity?

I formed an LLC when I got to 3 cars. At 1-2 vehicles, the cost and complexity probably isn't worth it. But once you're scaling, the liability protection and tax benefits become more meaningful.

Consult with a CPA and attorney in your state. LLC rules vary a lot. In some states it's cheap and easy, in others it's a pain. Also, LLCs don't protect you from everything - you still need good insurance.
