Understanding surge pricing - how does it actually work?

I see the surge multipliers but not sure the best strategy. Should I chase surges or stay in my zone? Sometimes by the time I get there it's gone. What's the move?

Don't chase surges! By the time you get there it's often gone. Instead, learn to predict surges - last call at bars, concert endings, flight arrivals. Be positioned BEFORE the surge happens.

Surge is tricky. I find it's better to stay in a profitable area than chase red zones. Sometimes a steady stream of regular rides beats one surge ride that takes you to the suburbs.
